Catch 122 Cafe Bistro
The Catch 122 Cafe Bistro, inspired by a similar-named novel, is located in a hundred-year old building at 1222 West Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver. The cafe specialized in coffee, brunch and evening fair with a bistro that makes everything in-house with locally sourced ingredients.
In the fall of 2017, Beatty Floors had the opportunity to replace the flooring in the commercial kitchen to Altro Safety flooring and resolved some moisture issues that occur with old buildings. With a pleased client with our work in 2017, fast forward to April 2020 and the restaurant closure due to Covid-19 and the social distancing made it a perfect time to replace the front of house flooring.
The dining area was bare concrete, blackened and well-worn from the heavy foot traffic directly from the street.
We had the contamination on the concrete removed by a complete grinding of the concrete surface, leaving us a perfect substrate to bond our patching compound.
Our installers Dave and Cliff did a great job of smoothing the surface as well as smoothing out and feathering a sharp ridge at the entrance.
Altro Safety floor was installed behind the bar as an anti-slip safeguard for the bar staff.
We showed the client a selection of Buckwold Western’s Luxury Vinyl Plank and a selection was made to use Creative Options 9” x 48” Fossil Brown, which has a rich weathered look that beautifully matches the rustic theme of the café.
The end look is a great update to this fine café!
